In New York

The fabulous Rachel Vincent and I visited the Harlequin offices today and we got to chat with our amazing editors.  Along the way, we ran into the gorgeous PC Cast and all had lunch.  Lots of laughs were had.  PC had filmed a Good Morning America segment earlier that morning and damn, that girl was smokin'.  I've never seen her look so hot -- and believe me, she's looked hot before!  Afterwards Rachel (who looked smokin herself) and I had to catch a cab in the rain.  Took us a while to flag one down, but we finally did it. Here's a picture of us once we were safe inside.

BEA 09 schedule

I was able to write chapter 8 of The Darkest Lie yesterday.  The challenge will be writing chapter 9 today when I head out for New York tomorrow.  So much to do, so much to pack.

Someone asked about my BEA schedule.  Here you go:

Friday May 29th, 11:00 am to 11:45 am:
I'll be signing copies of VAMPIRE’S BRIDE

Saturday May 30th, 11:00 am to 11:45 am:
I'll be signing ARCs of INTERTWINED.

Sunday May 31st, 9:30 am to 10:30 am:
I'll be signing ARCs of THE DARKEST WHISPER

The first two signings will take place in the HQ booth.  The last one will be the traditional signing in the . . . well, I don't know.  All I know is that other authors from other publishing houses will be around me :)

Better late than never

I'm up to chapter 8 for The Darkest Lie, Gideon's story.

I have a million things to do for my upcoming trip to New York (and BEA) so I'll be in and out all day.  Hopefully, though, I'll conquer chapter 8 later tonight.

Here is RT's review for Seduce the Darkness:

"Showalter is a master at creating dark and enchanting paranormal worlds. In her latest she masterfully combines aliens, vampires and humans into a compelling and entertaining story of lust, deception, intrigue — and, of course, love."

To read the prologue and first chapter of this book, go here.  Devyn is one of my favorite heroes ever.  For those of you who are Paris fans, Devyn will also do it for you :)  I LOVED writing him and almost didn't share him with Bride, his heroine.

Links!

It's demon week here.  You could win signed books from some amazing authors!  I'll be appearing on Friday with my post about "How to know if your demon loves you" :)  A very fun topic, indeed.

One of my best friends has the BEST platform!  I just want to share the link to her site.  Go here. This is such an important topic.  One that isn't talked about enough.  She's really fighting to change some laws, and I couldn't be more proud of this amazing woman!  Go Debbie!!!

Yesterday, I noted that I had finished chapter one of Gideon's story, The Darkest Lie, and that I wasn't sure I'd started in the right place.  I'm still not, and sadly, I don't get to forge ahead today and kinda test the waters.  But I'll be back at my desk tomorrow, however, and will let you know how it goes.  Right now, it just . . . lacks something.  Maybe I'll dream the solution :)  I love when I do that.

Beefcake Monday! (with updates)

Publish Post
This week is demon week here.  They'll be posts and giveaways from Meljean Brook, Larissa Ione, Jaci Burton, Rita Herron and Cynthia Eden (oh, yeah, and me!)  Stop by if you get the chance!!

Revisions came in for Darkest Prison, so I'll be tackling those today.  And hopefully writing the first chapter of Gideon's book, the Darkest Lie.  (Note: Revisions DONE!!  They were tres easy.)
(Another note:  First chapter of Gideon's book: DONE!!  I don't know if I started in the right place for the real book, but it was a great starting point for the here and now)

Later next week, I'll be heading out for BEA, where I'll be signing advanced copies of Intertwined and The Darkest Whisper.

Next month, I'll be doing all kinds of giveaways for the upcoming release of Seduce the Darkness.  We're even having a party here, cohosted with Deidre Knight.

Rinda Elliot and I gave a workshop over the weekend about working with your agent and the magnificent Rinda talks about that workshop here.

Good News Friday (a little early)!

My news (that is not good) is that I did not start Gideon's story.  I was out most of the day. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

My good news, however, is that I saw the cover for Heart of Darkness, the anthology I'm doing with Maggie Shayne and Susan Krinard.  I can't wait till I get to post it!!  It's very sexy.  Oh, and this is the collection that will have The Darkest Angel.  Will a Lord of the Underworld oil wrestle someone in this story?  Only time will tell!

We've updated the website in several places.  First up, the FAQ's.  I talk about what I'm working on, which of my other series/books are most like Lords of the Underworld, why I've written ebooks, when those ebooks will be printed, and who's next for the Lords.  Second, there's a new Pictures page.  You guys have seen all the pictures posted, though (I believe).  There are only a handful, and we'll be adding more as I travel and attend writer-type functions.

What's your news?

Updates

Yesterday, I wrote so much it might have been a blessing to cut off my hands.  But . . . I finished the rough draft of the short story.  No title for it yet.  I'll post as soon as I have one.  It'll be available for download in Aug -- but don't worry.  If you hate downloading books, this story will also be in the Into The Dark collection that will be printed in the summer of 2010 with all my other downloadable books.

Today, I'm reading through the story, seeing what I created :)  Tomorrow, hopefully, I'll be starting Gideon's story.

Beefcake Monday!

Taken from the Lords of the Underworld message board.

Was reminded I owe HQN a short story, (along the same vein as Darkest Fire) so that's what I'll be working on this week.  This story will be available for download this August, right before The Darkest Whisper's release.

And if I haven't posted about it yet, all of my ebooks will be printed in one volume called Into the Dark the summer of 2010.  I'm very excited about that!

A New Author Talk!!!!

Note: I look pregnant in the video.  I will never ever wear this shirt again.

Filming this one was SUCH a blast and is part of the Author Talk on Tour series. Author Marley Gibson was such a doll -- she helped me get rid of Jill for a bit and take over the show.

Author Talk

We've got a new post up at Author Talk and will have a brand new video tomorrow!  I can't wait for you guys to see this new video.  I start laughing every time I think of filming it.  So stay tuned!!

I just can't think of a title for this :) I've overused "updates"

If I can get Darkest Passion turned in on Friday -- and I know I will, the read-through is going wonderfully -- I'm gonna go see Star Trek.  I'm seriously drooling to see it.  It's got some major eye candy.  My agent, Deidre Knight, saw a sneak premiere and I'm eaten up with jealousy.

Speaking of Deidre, her book Butterfly Tattoo is getting the most amazing reviews.  I read a story she wrote along this same vein and it was one of the most powerful, emotional books I've ever enjoyed.  I LOVED it!!!

What else, what else.  Oh, yeah.  I'll spend the weekend doing the revisions for Tempt Me Eternally.  And then, everything will be back on schedule and I can start Gideon's story, as I mentioned yesterday.   Let me tell you, I am itching to get started on it.  I love me some Gideon.  His heroine's name is Scarlet.  Oh, and did I tell you the name of the woman Aeron falls for?  It's Olivia.

Updates

It's a double decker week.  Am working furiously on my last Darkest Passion read through before turning it in on Friday, but meanwhile the revisions for Tempt Me Eternally came in.  My goal is to turn those in on Monday, as well as start Gideon's story, The Darkest Lie.

Didn't get to take a break (besides seeing the movie) so I haven't done any extra reading.  But soon, I hope!  Books are my life's blood :)

Someone asked about the release of The Darkest Whisper.  I'm afraid it IS a Sept release, rather than a May release.  I'm sorry!  But in the meantime, my book Seduce the Darkness is coming out June 30th and if you like the Lords of the Underworld, I think you will like this book.  It's one of my favorite that I've ever written.

Beefcake Monday!

I answer a few fun questions here.

Plan to turn The Darkest Passion in this week (probably Friday) which means pounding through those pages this week.

Wolverine

Here we are at Wolverine (that's my gorgeous baby sis)  We had the BEST time!!  We had lunch, talked and laughed.   We took this with my phone while we were in the theater, waiting for our man candy.

I really really loved the movie.  LOVED Hugh Jackman.  Loved the characters and the story line.  And the fighting.  Oh, yes, the fighting!  But now I think they need to make a Wolverine: Resolution.  I want to see him with a happily ever after.  With, I don't know, a girl like me.  Food for thought, directors.  Food for thought. Ryan Reynolds was delicious as well (isn't he always)  He needed more screen time, though.  I adored his character so much that at one point, I leaned over to my sister and told her I wanted to have his babies.  Just sayin.

Good News Friday!

It's sister date day and I can't wait!  Wolverine, here we come!!  My eyes are ready for their candy.

T-shirts are being made for Intertwined, and we're giving them out at BEA.  However, I will try save one to giveaway here.

Gideon's story, The Darkest Lie, is my next project, followed by the sequel to Intertwined.

What's your good news?
