Workie, work, work

Still plugging away at Layel's story. Right now we're calling it The Vampire's Queen. Thank you for all the suggestions! I also really love:

The Blood King
Blood of Atlantis

I'm up to chapter 10 and hope to finish that today. So far, my morning has been too chaotic to work. What are you working on?

Book tour!

MY FAVORITE EARTHLING by the amazing Susan Grant
HQN; March 1, 2007

Even a Goddess can have a bad day...Keira, warrior-queen of the galaxy, is as famous for her beauty as she is for avoiding marriage. But when an upstart little planet called Earth threatens her world with its fleet of spaceships, the fate of her people lies in her hands. She must bind herself to a barbarian from the rogue world...or face the destruction of her own!

She's what he never knew he always wanted...Confirmed bachelor Jared Jasper knew the trick Earth pulled on the alien invaders wasn't a permanent solution. What they needed was a peace treaty. It just never occurred to him that he would wind up on the bargaining table. Playing the pushover groom to a mouthy alien babe who knows how to use a plasma sword is not exactly his idea of fun. But with six-billion people depending on him, he doesn't have much choice--sleep with the enemy...or bring on interstellar war.

Strange bedmates? You bet. But this alliance may turn into a romance the likes of which this galaxy's never seen!

Good News Friday!

I finished galleys for Red Handed -- only to discover Gnomey had made a myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/thecapturedgnome

Go friend him! I know he would enjoy it :)

I'm on chapter seven of Layel's story. Hope to finish that today. It's action packed, this chapter, so I'm going to hop myself up on coffee and dive in.

So that's my news. Tell me yours!

Back to the grind. . .

(and I'm not talking about Gnomey) Galleys came for Red Handed. This is my last chance to make changes, find mistakes, that sort of thing. I'm also working on the rough draft of Layel's -- the vampire king -- story and the next novel set in Atlantis. I have no title for it as of yet. Thoughts? So far in the series we've got:
Heart of the Dragon
Jewel of Atlantis
The Nymph King
Don't forget to check out the adventures of my beloved Lobby the Lobster. http://lobbythelobster.blogspot.com/ Hopefully one day he'll find his way back to me -- even if I have become an evil witch who tortures garden gnomes.

Lobby The Lobster...Escaped?

If you've ever spent any time with Gena, you know just how hard it is to stay mad at her. Today was really difficult because my mail brought me a special present from her. Something I've wanted for a LONG time.

Hard to be mad...but not impossible. I still refuse to pay any money for my beloved (cough) gnome. And now I don't even have Lobby anymore. He escaped, but he sent me this link.

I interupt my war with Jill Monroe to bring you this blog tour!

BLOOD SECRETS by Vivi Anna
Silhouette Nocturne

A young human woman is found ritualistically murdered in a downtown Necropolis hotel. It is up to Caine Valorian, a 200-year-old vampire, and his Otherworld Crime Unit to solve the unusual crime, and quickly before the human press can jump onto the story and cause a panic. To add to their already tough case, a new member, Eve Grant, transfers to their lab at the request of the mayor. Not only is she green and eager to impress the boss, but she's human. The first human ever to work in an Otherworld unit. The mayor thought it would be great press especially now with the strange human murder.

Caine has his work cut out for him, especially with his unruly team who don't appreciate any help from a human. Not only is this the toughest case of his career, but he's unusually attracted to the new girl, which can only cause trouble for them all. However, as they sink deeper and deeper into the workings of the case, Caine and Eve become closer and closer. So close that neither of them can see past each other and at the real happenings behind the scenes. The more they poke and prod at the case, the more they realize that something is going on, that this murder is only one step toward a greater purpose. Someone in the Otherworld community is calling on dark forces, in a plot to wipe out the entire human population.

ABOUT VIVI ANNA

A bad girl at heart, Vivi Anna likes to burn up the pages with her original unique brand of fantasy fiction. Whether it's in ancient Egypt, or in an apocalyptic future, Vivi always writes fast paced action-adventure with strong independent women that can kick some butt, and dark delicious heroes to kill for. Once shot at while repossessing a car, Vivi decided that maybe her life needed a change. The first time she picked up a pen and put words to paper, she knew she had found her heart. Within two paragraphs, she realized she could write about getting into all sorts of trouble without suffering the consequences. When Vivi isn't writing, you can find her causing a ruckus at downtown bistros, flea markets, or playgrounds.

REVIEWS

If you like CSI, you'll love this smart, sexy and suspenseful trip through Necropolis where the villains are vamps, werewolves and witches--and so are the good guys. Strong, sexy Caine Valorian is a vampire to die for. He's also the head of the crime unit that cracks the supernatural cases no human is brave enough to tackle. Except beautiful but businesslike Eve Grant. Sparks fly - in and out of bed - when Caine and Eve pool their talents to fight unspeakable evil. – USA Today best selling author, Rebecca York

A new series begins on a strong note with compelling characters that draw you into their world, showing it to you in a way that explains without bogging down the narrative. This is a solid mystery that is enhanced by the romantic and paranormal elements. I look forward to seeing more from this author – Eternal Night Review

Mess with the bull

And you get the horns!
I just learned that my best friend Jill Monroe not only stole my Lobby, but she also tried to talk my own mother into handing over Gnommy. Though how that diabolical genius learned my secret hiding place for him, I don't know. Maybe I have a traiter in my midst!
If Jill and I can't reach a trade agreement, the Gnome is going down -- along with his little frog friend!

This Lobster is Feeling Hot Hot Hot!

So, I wake up Saturday morning and find that my beloved garden gnome, given to me by Gena Showalter has been kidnapped. And being held for ransom. This picture was sent to me via e-mail with a demand for 1800 yen:

kidnapped garden gnome

How can he even eat his ice cream with that flame nearly at his throat? At least he's still protecting the frog. So selfless.

Well, no worries. I KNOW who stole gnomey and I won't give in. In fact, I've decided to get EVEN. So there it is. Yes, it's YOUR lobster Gena Showalter - and he's already in the pot ready for boiling.

So, tell us your good news. I'll leave you with a pic of Gena from a recent road trip we took to Texas. Why we take pictures like this I'll never know, but it's HILARIOUS at the time.

Beefcake Monday

To congratulate me for hitting New York Times extended list, Jill Monroe sent me this beautiful kissing lobster. And YES, he can kiss! That's why he's my Beefcake today. I've sampled the goods.
She also gave me a Michael Scott (The Office) poster. It will soon have a prominent place in my office, framed.
Over the weekend, my wonderful OKRWA chapter sent me beautiful red roses! It's been such a whirlwind. I feel very blessed!!

Good News Friday

Well, it's been one of the best weeks of my life! A dream come true week. I'm still flying so high I might never come down :) PC Cast and Susan Grant sent me the most beautiful roses!

(This photo taken on my phone doesn't do them justice.)

I ate my favorite dessert until I couldn't hold any more -- and then I just went ahead and ate it some more, anyway.

I'm headed out to do a workshop with Jill Monroe. Road trip! We always have THE best time and believe it or not, we're productive. Were it not for a certain road trip with Jill, Catch A Mate would not have been born. We had it plotted by the time we reached our destination :)

What's your news? (Don't forget to scroll down for contest news. And speaking of contests, I've spoken to the winner of the necklace and it is now on its way to her! My email was messing up again, but I think we've got the link fixed now!)

The Good News Just Keeps Coming!

Big congratulations to our Gena Showalter for hitting BOTH the New York Times (#32) and USA Today (#75) Bestseller lists ON THE SAME DAY!

WHOOHOOO

Last night we talked about how we're going to celebrate. Since we both paid for our Romantic Times Convention registration fees this month and have no surplus cash, we'll be eating bologna sandwiches and drinking water as a celebratory lunch in her car! But it will still be a party!

Congratulations, Gena!!

Black Listed

Here's the new cover for Black Listed! And here's the blurb:
High school senior Camille Robins and her best friend are determined to snag the attention of their crushes before graduation next month. Armed with red-hot outfits and killer hair, they sneak into the hottest nightclub in town —which caters to the rich and famous, both human and alien. They end up following Erik (who is human) and Silver (who isn’t) through a guarded doorway and are soon separated and under attack. . . and not the good kind.

Bad boy Erik spares Camille’s life, but the two are soon being chased by gun-toting Alien Investigation and Removal agents. Camille’s more confused than ever because Erik’s finally showing real interest in her, but the agents are accusing him of dealing Onadyn—a drug that ruins human lives. Suddenly, with the heat of his kiss lingering on her lips, Camille has to decide whose side she’s on . . . and whether she’s willing to put her life on the line to save Erik’s.

A note

I'm doing a blog tour a little later today but wanted to drop a quick note:

I haven't yet heard from the winner of The Nymph King necklace contest. If I haven't heard by the end of the week, I'll draw another name (from the old contest thread) I'll keep you updated on that!

A big thank you to my readers! The Nymph King hit #2 on the Borders Top 10 Romance List and #9 on Bookscan last week. That's a first for me, and I've been over the moon!

Up next for me writing-wise is Layel's story. I had no idea where I was going with his story or who his heroine was going to be (at one time I might have, but I couldn't find my notes) so I was dreading, dreading, dreading it. Then, I attended a plotting thing with my critique partners and boom! Ideas were flying and I walked away with a fabulous plot. I love it and can't wait to share!

Red Handed

(New development! We're going back to the drawing board for the cover for Black Listed -- sorry! -- but I'll have a new one soon and will post that.) Here's the blurb for Red Handed (which comes out in June!)
She’s been chosen to fight the elusive enemy among us. . . .

Phoenix Germaine has been trying to earn back her mother's trust after going into rehab and kicking Onadyn—the drug of choice for New Chicago teens. But when a party in the woods turns into an all-out battle with the most ferocious aliens Phoenix has never seen, she’s brought home in what appears to be an Onadyn-induced state. Hello, reform school.

Except, what her mother doesn’t know is that Phoenix has just been recruited to join the elite Alien Investigation and Removal agency, where she’ll learn to fight dirty, track hard, and destroy the enemy. Her professional training will be rigorous and dangerous, and the fact that one of her instructors is Ryan Stone—the drop-dead gorgeous, 20-year-old agent she met in the woods that night—doesn’t make things any easier. Especially when dating him is totally against the rules. . . .
