Do you know how many times I almost said Ass?

I admit it. I'm a potty mouth. And talking on the radio while I'm freaky-ass nervous made it more difficult to censure my potty words. Damn it, Jill Monroe! It was a close call on several occasions (I wanted to call my characters ass kickers, kick ass, wicked-ass cool...) but the show went very well and now I must decompress.

THANK YOU everyone for stopping by and listening!!!

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Yesterday I was sick but didn't tell anyone. Stomach has settled and I'm better. Whoohoo!

CORRECTION: Today (or tonight, actually) I’m doing an internet radio show at 11 pm (easternl) DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT TIME THAT IS CENTRAL? I'm going to show my stupid side (as I often do).

If you guys can, call in or email, that would be great. The number is 800-773-0355. Don't have the email handy, but you can get it and more information at http://www.jewelsway.com

Tomorrow is my birthday! We're going to have a blog party here with strippers, beer and a pool of oil.

You decide...

My naughty little friend Jill Monroe and I have a debate going. It started after we read this blog entry about dragon sex and my book, Heart of the Dragon. It vaguely mentions the possibility of me being a hot piece of ass (fingers crossed!), which led to this question...which would you rather have, a hot ass or a hot selling book? We’ll let you decide.

(and don't forget to check below for details about Jaci Burton's newest (and white hot!) book!)

Another hot one!

“Garden of Eden” featured in ELLORA’S CAVEMEN: LEGENDARY TAILS II by Jaci Burton
(Ellora’s Cave, June 2005)

Dr. Eden Mason has spent the past hundred years orbiting the Earth in stasis. Since a nuclear war destroyed everything, she and the other inhabitants of the space pods are the only survivors of the global meltdown.

One special passenger has joined them-Adam-an alien sent to recreate what was once a thriving, beautiful planet. But Adam needs Eden to fulfill his goal, in a way she never expected.

Adam has loved Eden since he first came to Earth, but her father refused to allow him to meet her. Instead, the brilliant scientist kept Adam secluded while they engineered a way to save some of Earth's inhabitants before the inevitable destruction. Now Adam can touch Eden, taste her, love her like he's always wanted to, at the same time fulfilling his duty to revitalize the planet.

His love for her is energizing and Eden begins to hope that life on new Earth will be a lush garden of sensual pleasures. But Adam's not telling her everything that will happen, and his secret may end up destroying them both.

“Garden of Eden has a very interesting plotline. Ms. Burton gives us a very imaginative not to mention fun way for Adam to get his energy to re-create a new world. Adam and Eden are well developed characters even for a short story, and the emotional bond that develops between them is very moving and believable. With steamy sex scenes a plotline with twists and turns this one was an enjoyable read." – Cupids Library Reviews

A Taste of Control by Patrice Michelle Posted by Picasa

A Taste for Control
by Patrice Michelle

Danger and intrigue brought them together, but mystifying passion keeps them spellbound. Who will give up their control first?

Duncan Mordoor has lived his entire life in total control. His hybrid vampire status might allow him to walk in the sun, but with his unique mind-reading ability, humans easily bore him and vampires give him a wide berth. Duncan lives by the motto: Never join in, never let your true emotions be known and above everything else...never lose control. He never expected rescuing a `human' woman would turn his life upside down.

Rose Sinclair has always held her emotions inside, keeping complete control. With her steel will in tact, nothing and no one will break through...except the seductive hybrid vampire who rescues her from the rogue vampire who'd kidnapped her. With just one swipe of his tongue Duncan makes her body hum, awakening a part of her she didn't know existed.

Heart of the Dragon...

Here's a review from The Romance Reader's Connection:

Do dragons exist? If you had asked Grace Carlyle that question a few weeks ago she would have laughed in your face. But when she stumbles into the portal of Atlantis while searching for her brother in the Amazon, her point of view changes dramatically. After receiving her brother's journal and a strange amulet, Grace boards an airplane to Brazil and tries to find her brother. After her guide leaves her stranded, she must find her way through the jungle all alone.

Darius en Kragin is a shape shifting dragon and the epitome of male beauty. As guardian of the portal to Atlantis, he has made a vow to destroy any that may enter their world. When he lays eyes on Grace, for the first time in centuries, he is able to see color, Grace's vibrant red hair. He also notices that she wears the sign of the dragon, the amulet her brother has sent her. The amulet also allows the wearer magical powers and access into the palaces of Atlantis.

Darius's world is filled with monsters, vampires, and danger. As the guardian, he leads an army of dragon warriors with a stern hand and has lost most of his humanity to the animal inside him. Grace only wishes to find her brother and return home, but Darius's instant and almost painful attraction leads him to her world after she escapes from him with the amulet. It is his responsibility to find and destroy her and return with the amulet. He soon finds that he will be unable to do so and in order to keep Atlantis safe, decides to help Grace unravel the mystery that surrounds her brother's disappearance.

Heart of the Dragon is a bang-up twist to the old fairy tail with its dragon hero. Grace's character brings a refreshing change to the damsel in distress with her full steam ahead attitude and persistence. Ms. Showalter leads the reader on a thrilling adventure that even the coldest heart will acknowledge and love.

I'm catching up!

I'm catching up on Me (my favorite subject, as some of you know) this weekend because I want to spotlight several books and authors next week. Below are pictures of the Korean editions of Stone Prince and Pleasure Slave. I really hope this company does Heart of the Dragon, too. I think they could do something amazing.

Speaking of Heart of the Dragon, here is a snippet of a great review:

This romantic fantasy is a magical work where dragons take on human form and have different values than the surface dwellers. Atlantis is an exotic city populated by dragons, vampires, centaurs, and other beings of myth and legend. There is plenty of action as well as romance in the storyline as the book will appeal to a wide range of readers. Gena Showalter has the magic touch to make readers believe in what she writes. Harriet Klausner

I have the magic touch!

Also, I'm doing a book signing at the OKC fair grounds today from 10 - 12 (I was supposed to sign till one but have to cut out early to get to my friend's wedding shower! I got her something VERY naughty...) Stop by if you're in the area.

The Pleasure Slave in Korean -- and I'm sorry these pictures suck and don't do the books justice, but it gives you an idea of what they look like.  Posted by Picasa

I'm showing off the covers again. First in my Atlantis books: Posted by Picasa

Second in the (kind of) series Posted by Picasa

Heart of the Dragon

I was doing my obsessive thing and checking my book ranking for Heart of the Dragon (over and over again) and it got down to 183 on Barnes and Noble.com. I almost fell out of my chair. It's in the 300's now, but for a while I was in utter heaven. I've decided to reward myself with brownies.

Hey, also. There's a fun dragon quiz when you flip open the cover instead of a snippet from the book. We're doing another quiz in Jewel of Atlantis, but that got me to thinking...Do you like the quiz better than the snippet or do you want the snippet?

I have got to love tattling on myself and showing you my worst side because I'm gonna tell you what happened. So I go inside the local coffee shop to get my fix (Hello my name is Gena and I'm a coffee junkie) and I take my place in line behind a very beautiful blond. She looks back at me, looks me up and down and frowns as if I'm dog shit she just discovered on her favorite dress. Was I THAT unattractive? (notice I'm smiling past the tears here -- wait, I don't look like I'm about to cry? I know what you're thinking. That I look smug because I just flipped her off....) Sure, I lacked make up, had my hair pulled back and wore ugly clothes, but please! Afterward, I went out to my car and snapped this picture of myself just to see what the fuss was about. This is what I looked like -- like a beast monster, sure, but not steaming dog shit. Posted by Picasa

Husbands...

Shelley Bradley had her husband guest blog, talking about what it’s like to be married to a romance author. That, of course, sent me running straight to my own husband. You can imagine how the conversation went:

Me: So, uh, you like being married to a romance author or what?
Him: Well, duh.
Me: Yeah, but why? And this has nothing to do with the fact that I’m, like, the most awesome thing to ever happen to you. (okay, so the last part was in my mind only)
Him: Hello, the research.
Me: Really? Like the time we drove to Dallas so I could get a feel for the scenery?
Him: God, no. Remember that chair scene you needed to test out? (pause, wicked twinkle in eyes) Hey, you gonna write another scene like that anytime soon?

More on the contest...More on Heart of the Dragon

Even though my contest page hasn’t been updated, you can still enter the Become A Character In My Book contest. Just go to the main page of my website, scroll down, and look for the Yahoo button. Enter your email address. Once you’re a member of my newsletter group, you’re automatically entered! Sorry for the confusion, me lovelies!

I'm getting sooooo excited about the release of Heart of the Dragon. Only a week and a half before it hits stores. Although, HQN books have been getting into stores about a week or two early so I expect it to arrive anytime. If you see it in stores, please please PLEASE let me know what store and state and all the things obsessive people like myself like to know.

Become a character in one of my books!

Due to the success of the last character-naming contest -- look for the name 'Mitch' in Heart of the Dragon -- I'm doing it again. Actually, I'm doing two contests. Have you ever wanted to be a vampire? A mermaid? A centaur? Now is your chance!

In celebration of the release of my white-hot paranormal romance, Heart of the Dragon, where dragons, vampires, demons and other creatures stalk the night, I'll soon be doing a random drawing from my e-newsletter group. Sign up now! The winner’s first name will be given to one of my characters.

To enter my contest, visit here
To read an excerpt of Heart of the Dragon, visit here
To buy Heart of the Dragon, visit here and here

Feel free to pass this contest information along anywhere and everywhere! Because -- and here's the second part of the contest -- the person who refers the most people to my e-newsletter group wins a character name, as well. When your friend (greatest enemy, whatever!) signs up, make sure they tell me you referred them.

I did it, baby! Yeah!

I wanted to interrupt my revenge against Jill Monroe for just a bit to tell you that I finished Wonder Girl. Yea! I came in a little over word count (at 420 pages), but that’s okay. It’s done, and I’m very happy with it. I even know how I’m going to begin the sequel. Life is good.

Also, I thought I’d post the back cover blurbs for Heart of the Dragon (which – and here’s something I didn’t know would happen but am happy with -- the blurb from the cover flat changed for the actual book) and Jewel of Atlantis. Tell me what you think!

Heart of the Dragon:

Their forbidden love would either bring their worlds together – or tear them both apart…

Searching for her missing brother, Grace Carlyle never dreamed she would discover a secret world populated by mythological monsters – or find herself facing a sword-wielding being whose looks put mortal men to shame.

But there he was, Darius en Kragin, one of a race of shape-shifting warriors bound to guard the gates of Atlantis and kill all travelers who strayed within its borders. Now Grace’s life was in his hands, and Darius had to choose between his centuries-old vow and the woman who had slipped beneath his defenses and stolen the heart of Atlantis’s fiercest dragon.

Now, here’s Jewel of Atlantis:

All Atlantis seeks the Jewel of Dunamis, which legend claims can overcome any enemy. Grayson James, human agent for the ultra-secret Otherworld Bureau of Investigation, has orders to keep it from the wrong hands – or destroy it. What he doesn’t know is that Jewel is a woman, not a stone! But once he meets this precious gem, destroying her is the last thing on his mind…

Jewel, part goddess, part prophet, is a pawn in Atlantis’s constant power struggles. She needs Gray’s help to win freedom and uncover the secrets of her mysterious origins. Gray needs her wisdom to navigate monster-ridden Atlantis. But need blossoms into passionate love as they fight demons, dragons, vampires – and a prophecy that says the bond between them could destroy them both.

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date

Sorry for the late post today. Got behind. On everything. However, I’m happy to report I’m almost done with The (Mis) Adventures of Wonder Girl. Yea! I should have it completely wrapped up sometime next week. Then, I jump straight into The Nymph King.

The release date for Heart of the Dragon is getting closer and closer. In fact, its release date is my birthday. I’ll be turning 30. Ack! I do accept presents and all forms of cash. Speaking of Heart of the Dragon, if anyone wants a temporary Dragon tattoo and hasn’t gotten one yet, shoot me an email at genashowalter@cox.net.

Again, speaking of Heart of the Dragon, have you ordered your copy yet? (cough, cough) I decided not to be subtle today. It is my hope this book flies off the shelves and out of warehouses (isn’t that every writers?).

I’ve posted the blurb before, but I’m going to post it again for new visitors:

He’ll make you burn…

He is a Dragon, a rare breed of warriors able to transform into the legendary creature at will. Though the mighty warlord breathes fear into the minds of his enemies and fire into the blood of his women, no one has ever stirred his heart -- until he encounters Grace Carlyle of modern day Earth. He burns to possess this proud, alluring beauty . . . but he has sworn to kill her.

The book is set in the mythical world of Atlantis – my version of Atlantis, that is, where the gods hid their most frightening mistakes. Dragons, vampires, demons, and monsters of every sort. Get ready for a wild ride of white-hot nights and unforgettable adventure.

Aren't we pretty

As I was searching through my photos for pictures of Jill Monroe to use in my DELISH revenge scheme against her (big shout out to the photoshop goddess known as Kelli McBride, without whom this would not be possible – also, stay tuned because you are going to LOVE what we have in store for Ms. Jill) I found some pictures of me at my launch party for The Stone Prince. The fabulous ladies with me are OKRWA authors. Notice my dear friend Jill Monroe. . . perhaps you will see this very expression on a different body.

She threatened. She delivered. She lost her halo.

Jill Monroe has begun her revenge against sweet, innocent me. You guys have seen me in person. Does someone with my plump, rosy (face) cheeks and happy eye twinkle look deserving of the Apocalypse she is unleashing?

Tears are rolling down my face as I type this. What she has done – and what she will do -- is, perhaps, more than I can withstand. I’m not sure I can go on. I’m not sure --

Wait.

Did I go too far above? Damn it! I knew I should have stopped at the “withstand” comment. Hell, just give me your sympathy anyway. This is tragic!

Now touring Lucy Monroe

“Moon Magnetism” featured in STAR QUALITY by Lucy Monroe
(Kensington Brava, May 2005)

Ivy Kendall dreads the full moon. For generations, women in her family have been extremely magnetic on that day—which was fine fifty years ago but not in the age of hard drives and cell phones. That’s why the hotel manager has resisted the technological improvements her boss wants her to implement. Now, the sexy, dynamic Blake Hawthorne is coming to insist on the upgrades in person. Shoot, he’ll probably fire her. Being around Blake makes her body go as haywire as a full moon, maybe even more. And as long as she’s going to be out of a job soon, there’s no reason not to use a little of that magnetism to her advantage, luring him into an elevator where the only electricity that will work is the kind they generate themselves…

Isn't life sweet?

I have to give a big shout out to Leigh Wynfield who is not only a fantastic writer, but also a fabulous partner in crime. As many of you know, I tend to get myself in trouble. More ramblings from Reno and a review of HEART OF THE DRAGON

On one of our many flights, Jill Monroe wore head phones. She turned to me and, not realizing how loud she was talking, said, “I can’t see the TV because that lady’s big head is in my way.” I kid you not. Those were her exact (screaming) words. I mention this now because Ms. Monroe is planning some sort of horrible revenge against me, and well, I feel like tattling on her like a little girl.

(In Heart of the Dragon) Showalter pens a bold and exciting new vision of both Atlantis and dragons. Lots of danger and sexy passion give lucky readers a spicy taste of adventure and romance. RT

At the literacy signing, I got to meet Liz Maverick and Marianne Mancusi, two utterly gorgeous women. Seriously, they are too freaking gorgeous. Liz, looking as lovely as a little sparrow, snapped a picture of me kissing a chicken’s engorged…well, I’ll say no more on the subject in consideration for those with delicate constitutions.

(In Heart of the Dragon) Showalter pens a bold and exciting new vision of both Atlantis and dragons. Lots of danger and sexy passion give lucky readers a spicy taste of adventure and romance. RT

Getting back to the subject of seriously hot babes…I came across Kristen Painter, Jax, Sasha White, Shannon McKelden, Jaci Burton and Crystal Green. These women are not only beautiful, they are witty and fun as well. I wanted to carry every one of them home in my bag and keep them with me forever.

I also met the most fantastic booksellers from CA. They loved my books, and let me tell you, there is no better way into my heart LOL. They made me feel like a queen. I loved it. Hell, I loved them! Hey, ladies!!

As many of you know, Jill Monroe was an Angel who once worked for a man named Charlie. I was able to take naughty photos of her as she infiltrated the bad guy’s lair. Now, some of you are wondering how I could punish my dear friend like this. I’ll tell you why.

She cheated on me.

Yes, that’s right. She cheated on me. While in Reno, we explored the hotel and came across a little chapel. We decided to get married. How fun and wild, I thought. We’d be the topic of conversation for days. We’d take pictures and post them on our blogs. I’d invite my editors to be my bridesmaids. Except, the chapel was closed.

Jill and I make plans to return and happily skip back to the casino. Who do we run into? The woman Jill had propositioned mere hours before. Her roommate. It seems Jill was juggling us both.

And so, it is my pleasure to post naughty pictures of Jill Monroe.
