Jill Monroe and I traveled to the North Texas RWA chapter to give our workshop on creativity. Can anyone guess what happened on the drive down there?
Let me start at the beginning. We left VERY early in the morning, giving ourselves an extra hour (for bathroom breaks, food breaks, and so on). How could we have known we’d need that extra hour (and more) because we would get lost? If you said: you should have known because you get lost every time you two travel together, you're right! We took every wrong turn we possibly could, and when we reached the desired town, the highways were so twisted we kept missing our exit. We circled for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Jill and I entertained ourselves quite nicely because I "accidentally" said things like “I can ride a tail hard core.” Of course, I meant I could follow someone closely in a car without ramming into them, but Naughty Miss Jill burst into laughter. (tsk, tsk)
Now, we finally reached our desired destination and step into the meeting room. That’s about the time I want to vomit. Can anyone guess how I feel about public speaking? I calmed down, though, and the workshop sailed smoothly – except for the times I forgot what I wanted to say mid-sentence. The ladies there were wonderful. Afterward, I stuffed my face. Truly, I crammed more cheese sauce and chips into my stomach than is probably legal. Jill had to roll me out so we could make our book signing with the wonderful Juliet Burns.
Overall, a fantastic trip!!
I picked up some books to read:
She Drives Me Crazy by Leslie Kelly
The Medusa Project by Cindy Dees
Touching Midnight by Fiona Brand
High-Stakes Passion by Juliet Burns
