What Was I Thinking?!

I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t, no matter how hard I tried. I couldn’t not write. And so, I’ve already begun my next HQN -- the one I’m calling (for now) Hot, Sweaty Loving. Or perhaps I should call it: What Was I Thinking, Am I An Idiot? I’ve been dying to write this book, and yet the words are slow in coming. I usually write fast. Really fast. I’ve been banging my head against a wall to get 2 chapters written on this baby. In retaliation, the characters are going to suffer. Then suffer some more. . .

Eden Black: Alien Assassin - it's done!!

July 5th, 2004

The good news is I finished typing in my second book for Pocket (Eden Black, Alien Assassin). Is it bad that I want to throw myself on the hero and have my wicked way with him? My plan is to take a few weeks off and prepare for RWA National. Then, when I return, I’ll jump into my next book for HQN, another sexy paranormal/fantasy I’ve been dying to write. I’m having trouble with the title, though. For some reason, I don’t think my publisher will go for Hot, Sweaty Loving.

The Beginning

June 29, 2004

Okay, so I decided to begin a writing journal. A gal needs somewhere to bitch and moan -- somewhere no one can talk back. At least not that I can hear. Let me begin by telling you a single fact about me: I write the rough draft of my books longhand. Yes, it’s true. Am I insane, you’re thinking? Well, yes. I am. With the rough draft of Eden Black, Alien Assassin now finished (yea!) I’m in the process of typing each and every one of these 400 pages into my computer. Why do I do this to myself? I ponder that very question each time my wrists and fingers scream in protest. The truth is the story flows smoothly and continually for me when I sit down with a notebook and pen. I don’t allow myself to lament for hours over a single word or sentence -- I do that as I’m typing it in.
